How many people have had the opportunity to stand on the roof of Carracol Tower. . . at the Southwest Museum in Eagle Rock CA . . . after climbing the interior spiral staircase . . . ??

. . . this post will be about museums . . . again.

“I’ve been associated with several museums for at least 20 years – as a docent, as an employee, a consultant, and as a lecturer.” . . . h-m-m-m . . . said that in the other post . . . . those museums being:

the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland OH;

 . . . the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, Los Angeles CA;

. . . the Southwest Museum,

and the Autry National Center, Los Angeles CA.

So what am I getting at?

. . . what good is all the information and stuff if we can’t access it, or it gets buried in, or has to compete with a lot of similar content?

“There’s only a finite amount of space to store all the crap that’s been accumulating in museums over the years, and if people can’t see it or don’t even know that it exists, what good is it?“

“Publish the GPS coordinates for your museum . . . people have GPS in their vehicles . . . ” . . . yeh, said that before, as well . . .

Here are some coordinates for the Eastern California Museum . . . they will get you close enough to the actual location (close enough for a J-DAM) . . . you will be able to see the structure.

36.80202/-118.20372 (lat/long), intersection of Grant and Center Streets, Independence CA 93526. I used the esri ArcGIS app for the coordinates.

And I said “. . .get a museum BLOG . . . Link the blog to Twitter, etc.”

The first response is “. . . the County or NPS doesn’t allow . . . ”

. . . w-e-l-l . . . if you remember . . . MAMA didn’t allow a lot of stuff but it “got done” anyway . . . check out the L.A. County Museum of Art . . . their blog . . . Yes, I said “BLOG” . . . here . . . It’s a beaut!! . . . almost as good as, if not better than . . . visiting.

LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)

So the more crap you hang on the walls or jam into cases . . . without comprehensive context . . . What does it mean??

. . . let’s cite an example: what did Norman Clyde do that contributed to society . . . ??

He climbed fucking mountains . . . in boots with hob-nails embedded in the soles . . . or rubber soled canvas shoes when he needed more “grip-shun” . . . as said by an acquaintance of mine . . . he carried books and a cast iron frypan . . . Did he write books? . . .

He signed pieces of paper with his name and the date . . . and left them in tins on the crest of mountains . . . And if he was so great, are you, as a “supporter” of Norman Clyde, willing to put $20.00 in the donation box?

Why not exhibit cameras and photographs by Andrew A. Forbes who documented the florescence of agriculture, mining and industry in Owens Valley beginning in 1902 and ending in 1916?

Photographic content (history and process) has more relevance today . . . most people have “smartphone (camera included)” or a point-and-shoot digital camera . . . not everyone wants or needs to “conquer” a mountain . . . and how many people have been there before you? The same could be said of photographs, but you didn’t need to “train” to get a photo . . . And you won’t be stuck in traffic on the trail to “Whitney” . . . or shitting in a pit toilet or along side the trail.

Explain the reasons for the sale of land in Owens Valley in the early 1900′s . . . like people not being familiar with agricultural techniques – sort of like going to Alaska and the Klondike to “strike-it-rich” without knowing what the fuck you’re doing, and not just “L.A. stole the water!!“

So much regional history is passed over in favor of seemingly “significant” events without first examining the circumstances leading to specific undertakings . . . ranchers and farmers diverting water from the streams and the Owens River to water crops and livestock (beginning in the late 1860′s) . . . cutting of the pine forests for lumber used in the mines, charcoal for the smelters . . . no one talks about “cause”, only “effect”.

Local or small regional museums need to define their mission . . . think beyond the region, bleeding hearts are not your audience . . .

All photos are from Google . . .

“Sandra Aistars is the executive director of the Copyright Alliance, whose members include the Motion Picture Association of America, NBCUniversal, Time Warner, Viacom, ASCAP and BMI.“

SANDRA AISTARS: .

” . . there are criminal websites offshore . . .”

(ME: . . . so go shake down the offshore people . . . )

Between Aistars and Shirky, Jimmy Wales made comment . . . you can read that here (link) . . . we jump to . . .

CLAY SHIRKY:

“Because the biggest producers of content on the internet are not Google and Yahoo!—they’re us—we’re the people getting policed, because in the end, the real threat to the enactment of PIPA and SOPA is our ability to share things with one another. So what PIPA and SOPA risk doing is taking a centuries-old legal content—innocent until proven guilty—and reversing it: guilty until proven innocent.

At this point Clay says, “You can’t share until you show us that you’re not sharing something we don’t like. *this sentence doesn’t make much sense . . . seems Clay was swept up in the moment. He continues:

Suddenly, the burden of proof for legal versus illegally falls affirmatively on us and on the services that might be offering us any new capabilities.
And if it costs even a dime to police a user, that will crush a service with 100 million users. So this is the internet they have in mind.“

To which AISTARS responded:

“The artists and the creators that I represent rely on the internet to share their work, to communicate their work, to communicate with each other, to find new ideas (piracy), to build on each other’s works (theft of intellectual property – sampling).“

And . . .

“This isn’t about people sharing their own works. This is about people abroad in criminal syndicates ripping off U.S. artists’ works and (non-membership = free, slow downloads) selling them back (membership = faster downloads) into the U.S. marketplace without any return going to the creators of those works.“

I added the boldface stuff in parentheses, because the “artists and creators” that AISTARS refers to are as guilty of theft and/or piracy as the fat German known as Dotcom . . .

Look at remakes of movies . . . “covers” of successful music by unknown or less than successful musicians . . . there is no REAL creativity in Hollywood . . .

“Ice Road Truckers” spins-off “World’s Toughest Truckers” . . . “Gold Rush Alaska” shits out “Bering Sea Gold” or something like that . . . “Big Shrimping‘” spawns some Cajun shrimp crap . . . strong>Hollywood “writers” and “producers” need to get their heads and noses out of the moneyed asshole in front of them . . .

“Woman to Woman” is a song written by Joe Cocker and Chris Stainton. It was released on Cocker’s 1972 album Joe Cocker (December 1972). Later, in 1996, the horn-and-piano riff from “Woman to Woman” was sampled by Tupac Shakur in his song “California Love“; it was a smash hit for Tupac, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.” Wikipedia

So did Tupac credit Cocker and Stainton for the use of the riff from “Woman to Woman” as the background for “California Love” . . . most people who heard the piece thought Shakur and Dre were fucking geniuses . . . they (Tupac and Dre) never stood up and said we built this song on a bit by two white boys . . .

As for movies . . . I don’t waste my time or money . . . and to AISTARS . . . how much $$$ you get paid that lets you shit in the bidet??

From “Los Caprichos” by Francisco Jose de Goya

“Goya described the series as depicting . . . the innumerable foibles and follies to be found in any civilized society, and from the common prejudices and deceitful practices which custom, ignorance, or self-interest have made usual“. Wikipedia

So was I wrong??

“Authorities attest that Megaupload, at one point the fifteenth most popular site on the Web, was guilty of costing copyright holders upwards of $500 million in lost revenues because users of the service can easily and freely upload and distribute pirated material. Four people were arrested in New Zealand Thursday as part of the sting, which also yielded the site going offline.“

$500 million in lost revenues . . . the fucking music industry is turning out such crap – Justin Beiber, Beyonce . . . and the rest of the pop music “stars” . . . remember, the “music” giants went after Napster and eventually bought them off . . . Limewire decided to suck . . . everybody has their price . . .

Disney went after the Air Pirates back in the 1970′s . . . cos Mickey and Minnie were doing it . . .

“Prior to that, London wrote several “Air Pirates” comic books, the first of which drew a lawsuit from Disney because of its front cover, depicting a Mickey Mouse type figure flying an airplane loaded down with several bags labeled “DOPE”. The title on the cover is “Mickey Mouse Meets the Air Pirates“.

Yeh . . the flap was really over the cover of the comic . . . London et al used a cover from one of the old Mickey Mouse comics . . . Disney should have been flattered that the artists used his illustration . . . oops . . . copyright infringement . . .

The “music” personalities make money off concerts and souvenirs, not just CD’s and Dvd’s . . .

Did you ever “loan” a CD to a friend . . . and did that friend or acquaintance burn a copy or upload the contents of the CD to their hard drive?

Is that considered piracy? Under SOPA . . . o-o-oh yeh . . .

. . . u-u-u-h . . . out here in the world it’s called “sharing” cos no money changed hands . . . but the HAVES only share or exchange stuff for MONEY . . . pussy in the backseat. . . . a blow-job . . . cars . . . vacations . . . you get the picture?

The supporters of Sodomite Old Politico Assholes are whining cos they don’t be gettin no kickback . . . O-o-o-h yeh . . .

Pound got pounded cos he wouldn’t bend for the ass-reaming of the U.S. Government . . .
. . . wrote the Pisan Cantos on toilet paper . . . while in an Italian prison (thanks amerika) . . .

o-o-o-h . . . yeh!

SOPA . . . WTF??!

I blacked-out my blogs for 12 hours . . . I hope that Facebook and Twitter understand the implications underlying SOPA . . .

Have you seen the movie with Marky Mark (Mark Wahlbeg), where he plays a sniper who gets fucked over by Big Brother ??

Well, take heed my brethren . . . cos near the end of the flic . . . where the SENATOR makes a statement about the “haves” and the “have-nots” . . . that’s what SOPA and it’s little brother are all about . . . the lifers in Washington and their corporate friends, Disney, Sony, the MOVIE industry . . . they are are feeling the heat . . . Janet Jackson has more than enough $$$ . . . so stop paying her to make commercials . . . show us more pics of her nipple armor . . .

I BUY my music and vids . . . I’m 67 years old . . .

Hey, let’s go fuck up China . . . send in a SEAL team or two, and terrorize the pirate motherfuckers!!

Facebook’s got no balls . . . What’s up,with Twitter?? . . . same as fucking Facebook . . . NO FUCKING BALLS . . .

Time for the masses to rise up and get rid of all the Sad Old Political Assholes . . . remember . . . the senators et al are not going to suffer . . . they are the “HAVES” . . . and just like the ducks on Wall Street clapping and ringing the bell . . . THEY DON’T CARE!!

I’m no believer in Islam, but Mohamed was supposed to have made a statement about words, something to the effect “. . . that the best language was the one that could be understood.“

So . . . stop the fucking rhetoric and vote the HAVES out of their comfortable holes . . .

Don’t buy Kindle books cos they’re crap . . . 3D movies suck . . . Disney . . . sucks . . .

And who gives a rat’ s ass about bloodsucking VAMPIRES and werewolves . . . W-H-A-T THA FUCK!!

Like the man said . . . “America has gone from barbarism (arrival of the Europeans) to decadence without creating a culture . . .” (no, it wasn’t Abe Lincoln)

Stop listening to all the crap-ola about God bless America cos that’s all it is . . . bullshit . . . we used to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the “seventh-inning-stretch” . . . but NOW some sorry-ass somebody gets out on the field and stumbles . . . mumbles . . . through “God Bless the HAVES” . . .

Did you ever watch the movie “Black Sunday” ?? . . . watch it sports fans . . . shows where America’s priorities are . . .

Stop whining about floods and tornados . . . they’re a fact of life . . . get on with it . . . Move OUT of the floodplain!!

. . . there is no “American Dream” unless it’s endless beer, a Raiders cap or jacket . . . a broad with big tits, killer weed, “tribal” tats, and a truck with lifts so high, that you HAVE to use a fucking grappling hook to climb in . . . that’s it . . . AND . . . what you are saying is, “Let the senators, representatives and Wall Street (banks) run the cuntry . . . “

I gotta take a leak . . .

In “poontang or petenera” I posted some lyrics copied from a subtitled video about flamenco by Carlos Saura . . . the cantaor featured was Jose Menese.

And after listening to the song many times, I realized that the subtitles were miles away from what was being sung . . . so after several hours of research and translations . . . I have what is as close to the cante jondo as I can get . . . but still much better than what was originally copied . . .

Fragmento . . . de la pelicula . . .

My intention is death
Mi intención es muerte

(if they saw me, they spoke with uncle.)
si me vieron hablaron con tío.

Hablarán a su tío
They will speak to your uncle

They have sharpened their knives
Han afilado sus cuchillos

I have been through much
Para que empiedra
. . . (that) it paves with stone.

el pasar con tal tormento y dolor
. . . going through such torment and pain

Soy duro como piedra
I am hard as stone

So I would not feel (No sentiría tan)
. . . I would not feel
The wounds in my heart . . .(Las herida a mi corazón.)

No sentiría las heridas en mi corazón

. . . faux “screenprint” by SalVidali . . .

++++++++++++++

. . . I like Spam . . . sliced . . . cubed in my eggies . . . with sliced Tillamook cheddar in a sammich . . .

. . . getting to what I wanted to say . . . WordPress blogs have this “spam” filter that alerts bloggers to potential “spam” . . . AND, as a rule I delete 99.999% of what comes across the table . . . I have clicked “not spam” once or twice . . .

I personally filter the items identified as “spam” and generally agree with the WP filter . . . however, I realize that maybe some of you out there are using company electronics, hence the IPs get tagged as “spam” . . . I don’t know what criteria is used to determine what IS “spam” and what is not, I don’t really care.

If you would like to comment, compose a sentence or two, not “I like it . . .” or some paragraph telling me that my SEO sucks . . . I don’t care!!

If you like what you see, click the “like” icon, check back occasionally or subscribe . . . your choice.

So if you have commented but never see your comment, don’t worry . . .
