NGO . . .

Been trying to figure out WTF is an NGO and so finally I Googled “NGO” to prevent further frustration . . . AND, here’s what I came up with:

A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a legally constituted organization created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. In the cases in which NGOs are funded totally or partially by governments, the NGO maintains its non-governmental status by excluding government representatives from membership in the organization. The term is usually applied only to organizations that pursue some wider social aim that has political aspects, but that are not overtly political organizations such as political parties. Unlike the term “intergovernmental organization”, the term “non-governmental organization” has no generally agreed legal definition.” From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Sounds like NGO advisory personnel are the primary responsible parties whenever there is a major cluster fuck in progress . . . a GOOD example of not getting things done: warehouses full of supplies in Haiti but no fucking distribution system!! GET OFF your flat ASSES and get sweaty!!

I was watching CNN the other morning and there was a commentary about the number of NGO representatives that had been abducted in Afghanistan during the month of July 2010 (11). Maybe the Taliban decided that the dead weight needed to be tossed off the boat . . .

So . . . it seems there are these NGO people who think that they are going to provide a solution for the conflict in Afghanistan (you read the wiki explanation above, right?) . . . uh . . . I’m acquainted with someone who went to Afghanistan to “do something” – I’m not really sure what his mission is/was . . . but one of his comments from the field was, that when NGO “advisory” personnel leave, the Afghanis just go back to doing what they were doing before the “advisory” people came to show them a “better” way.

Here’s what needs to be done: Congress and the House of Representatives, oh yeh, and the President too; they all need to get some coffee and donuts and sit and watch this 5 part documentary about a British Pathfinder group (Pathfinder Platoon In Helmand, Afghanistan) as they conduct a 6 month mission in north eastern Afghanistan. The British team is told several times by Afghani village elders that they need to leave the area and let the people live their lives without any further interference . . . basically, “ . . . Get the fuck out of our valley and let us grow our opium – we don’t want you or need you.”

Oh, and why doesn’t the news media tell us about the DEA and its involvement in Afghanistan? Got some heavy shit going on over there (. . . don’t WE have a drug “problem” in Colombia and Mexico AND northern California?) . . . and it seems like the Republicans and Democrats are more concerned about getting out for “recess” than getting business done . . . WTF, they aren’t in school anymore . . . where are THEIR ethics??

p,s, Since when is it necessary to receive “permission” to engage the opposition when you’re getting your ass shot off? OM FUCKING G . . .
