Polaroid Instant or . . .

If you get the Polaroid Instant app for yer iPad you will have to buy it for the iPhone and if you get it for yer iPhone you will have to pay to get the app for yer iPad . . .

u-u-u-u-uh WTF ?!

Anyway if you want vintage Polaroid formats/emulsions get the LoMob app . . . if you gets it on yer iPad it will load to all youse other mecha like iPhone iPod Touch, and you only pays one time !!

The Polaroid Instant app has a tendency to crash when you try to add too much fluff to yer images . . . When you try to save yer image with fingerprints vignette border texture text etc. etc. the app closes and you end up back with a screen full of icons . . . it’s like being out with yer GF and just when you think . . . you know . . . and she pulls her skirt back down . . .

The Polaroid Instant app is O.K. Didn’t think I would have to pay twice for it but like I said . . .

I’m thinking about taking my NIKON FM 35mm out of storage and shoot some real film . . . I can use a local camera shop to process my film and use the lomography-smartphone-film-scanner from Photojojo to digitize my negs.

I know, I know, I could just have the photo store make a CD but no CD drive on the iPad so I’ll just use my iPod Touch to copy the images I like and export them to the iPad for further processing or do some editing on the iPod Touch before moving them to the iPad darkroom – Lots of options.

There are 15 filters in the LoMob “Instant Photography” (Polaroid) category.

ps – I didn’t mention that the LoMob app has a camera function so you don’t have to import yer images . . . just shoot from the app. More camera apps now let you shoot from within the app not like Hipstamatic . . . Hipstamatic just keeps developing more films and lenses . . . Hipstamatic = Microsoft . . . duh . . .

Moleskine on steroids . . .

Paper by FiftyThree, Inc. . . . an app

Obviously the people who have complaints about this app have never used a Moleskine notebook . . .
The app is free with an in-app option for purchasing additional tools (1.99 each). You get the pen tool and an eraser with a nice color pallet included in the download. If you need more stuff (4 additional tools and a color mixer) you can buy them . . .

No you can’t import images (photos or otherwise), but have you tried to download (import) a photo to a Moleskine??

If you want to add color then you can get the brush tool and add great watercolor tints to your sketches . . . no water or makers involved.

This app is only available for the iPad . . . an iPhone/iPod version would be nice.

However, if you want to jot down notes or do a qwik sketch . . . like a storyboard . . . you probably should sit down . . . don’t want to be walking into open manholes or ditches . . . or a utility pole or off the edge of the sidewalk.

If you have the wifi enabled iPad then you can email yer earth shaking concepts or upload them to twitter and Facebook . . .

I’ll still carry a small Moleskine in my back pocket . . . waiting for the iPhone/iPod version of Paper . . .

Get this app if ya gots an iPad . . . y’all.

p.s. I’m going to get the new iPad Air : )

is it still MONDAY . . . ??

20130923-061539.jpg

U-u-uh . . . seems like everyday has been MONDAY . . . can’t get the brain out of bed . . . got plenty of wind but the sails are furled . . . inertia . . .

Colloquially, the “doldrums” are a state of inactivity, mild depression, listlessness or stagnation.”

So . . . I’m transitioning into fall from a somewhat short summer . . . peaches are falling off the tree faster than I can eat them . . . the stupid birds peck holes in the fruit and ruin it before it can ripen . . . u-u-uh . . . the old bio-clock is having difficulties . . . sun’s been getting up later going to bed earlier . . . and fucking daylight saving time is no help.

A bright spot on Thursday . . . iOS 7.0

Yeh, well . . . first I REALLY like what’s been done with the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch camera functionality. . . SQUARE FORMAT . . . oh yeh !! And they’ve added some basic filters . . . and the Photo Booth app is unreal . . . here’s an example:

20130923-061504.jpg

I had nine app updates for iOS 7 on trash day (Thursday morning) . . . the best one was the Pixlr Express + update . . . Autodesk added a “layers” function . . . it’s labeled “add image” . . . lets you resize, rotate and adjust opacity . . . OH MY FUCKING GOD !!

If you don’t have Pixlr Express + . . . GET IT !!

Just got two old kit models from Japan . . . replacements for some of the old plastic Fang of the Sun mecha that burned up two years ago . . . can’t buy back time . . . so I’ll restart the clock !!

new toy. . .

20130523-182737.jpg

I bought a Daylight Viewfinder from Photojojo for my iPod Touch 5G . . .

20130523-182727.jpg

and it came with another little dinosaur.

WHAM BAM thank you m’am . . . it’s just what I need for my forays into the great nature . . . no more trying to figure out what I’m seeing on the big screen when outside in the bright sun . . .

The thing may have some problems eventually . . . like falling off the iPhone/iPod screen, but that can always be fixed with Krazy Glue or duct tape. I have my iPod Touch in a Griffin Survivor case . . . you know, the one that is dust proof water resistant . . . I’ve dropped my iPod Touch several times (4-5 feet) and its suffered no ill effects . . .

Back to the Daylight Viewfinder . . . get one . . . you can hit the shutter button without taking your eye off the viewfinder . . . just like with the old film SLR’s.

I don’t think I’ll use it with the iPad . . .

Goto Photojojo and getcha one . . .

iPad mini . . . u-u-u-h . . .

20121102-110619.jpg

A while back I mentioned that Apple probably wouldn’t produce a mini iPad/tablet . . . WRONG . . . this morning Apple sent an email that said I could now buy the new iPad mini . . .

I didn’t pre-order the new toy, and unless someone wants to give me one . . . I’m not not going to get one (iPad mini) . . . why ???

Several reasons:

1. NO new Apple EarPods !!!
2. the bottom end iPad mini has 16 GB
3. the price . . .

I’ll explain the dynamics behind my decision – I have a 4th generation iPod Touch . . . 32GB . . . wifi . . . camera . . .

If you compare the new iPod Touch and the iPad mini here’s what you get or don’t get . . .

The new iPod Touch 5G has the new 5 megapixel iSight camera, a 4 inch Retina screen, a wrist strap, AND the NEW EARPODS !!! The new bottom end model iPod Touch has 32 GB . . . and it costs $325.16 (includes tax), the low-end iPad mini carries a price tag of $466.54 (price includes tax), has 16 GB memory, and NO earbuds, new or otherwise.

For Paul Ryan’s benefit, I’ll do the math . . . the iPod Touch costs $141.38 LESS than the 16 GB iPad mini . . . now why would I want an iPad mini ???

. . . almost forgot, the new iPod touch comes in COLORS !!!
And I did forget to mention SIRI !!! (updated: 11/03/2012)

Why don’t I get an iPhone? don’t need the hassle of a contract, or worry about not having enough data “minutes” . . . and with wifi being somewhat viral, well, I can email, Skype or do FaceTime with my iPod Touch almost anywhere . . . if the are no hotspots, I can just use my NET 10 cell phone !!!

Yeh, people will buy the iPad mini . . . maybe a solar charger would be a better choice.

20120630-152728.jpg

this app was listed as Jane’s #2 fav . . . it saves the original snap to the photo library so you can always have it as reference and it’s archived if you got the cloud . . .

you can “save” your fav FX with a flick of a lever (push the indicator to the star icon) and the FX index # and it’s NAME is displayed . . . naow go shoot more pics with your fav FX . . . or flick the lever and check out some of the other random selections. h-m-m-m . . . let’s see . . . what else . . . you can import from the photo roll . . . crop images . . . 17 camera styles . . . 18 border options

. . . the app is 1.99 USD . . . BUY IT !!

Why nobody likes an apple . . .

20111103-233709.jpg

Just read a portion of “Apple’s aesthetic dichotomy” by James Higgs . . . OMG!! Such big words . . . but everyone is free to have their own opinions . . .

Wassa mattah James, you afraid you might get thrown outta paradise if youse nip on the apple? As most users of the iPad, iPhone and all the other models in the apple cart understand, the only “bad” apple was in the bible . . . you don’t have to use Apple apps, there are thousands by other developers to choose from . . .

. . . what’s so bad about analog stuff anyway . . .

20111103-233557.jpg

Photo #1 snagged from the internet & modified by the author, smiley ball shot with my iPod Touch cam, all rights reserved, 2011.

Hipsta- magik

Well the Hipstamatic camera app is my most fab app . . . well, when I use it with Lo-Mob and Photo Shop Express, it’s everything I need.

I’ll be getting an OWLE Bubo for my iPod Touch shortly to accessorize my 8mm vintage movie app.

Blog-o-matic

. . . been off the blogmobile for a few days, working on the Curtis/Forbes photo exhibit . . . painting gallery walls and such . . . working on a personal video using the 8mm video app on the iPod Touch.
Saw a piece about a 30 minute movie made by a Korean film producer shot with the iPhone . . . Park Chan-Wook

“Award-winning director, Park Chan-Wook shot a a 30-minute film used two iPhones to shoot ‘Night Fishing’.”

“THE GIST
A South Korean director has shot a major film using two iPhones.
The picture resolution is the same as conventional movies, but took just 80 people, $133,000 and 10 days to create.
The iPhone movie will be the first ever of its kind to be shown in cinemas.”

And I found the camera housing shown in the photo . . . the OWLE Bubo . . .

The housing includes a tripod mount, a wide-angle lens and hand grips for steadier handheld shots.

HOLEE CRAP!! TECH-NOL-O-GEE!!
