Old school – NEW world

Bridging the gap . . .

OWLE modification . . .

My new iPod Touch 5G won’t fit the old OWLE iPod 4G mount . . . and I don’t intend to buy a new one . . . that is if ALM even makes one for the new, longer iPod Touch 5G . . .

I’m going to get my Dremel tool and grind a bit off the top and bottom of the right side of the old iPod nest so the new toy will fit . . .

the yellow paint indicates the areas that will be removed.

The old rubber housing will also need some knife work . . . like cut off the end . . .

My goal is to eventually buy the ALM “cinema” lens mount so I can use my old Nikon FM lenses on the OWLE camera housing with the new 5G . . . I’m thinking of a 43 – 86mm zoom lens specifically.

All pics shot in available light with the iPod Touch 5G – some cropping with the PhotoForge 2 app.

. . . all dese pics with the iPod Touch mounted in the OWLE camera thing . . . the OWLE gives GREAT stability to the iPhone/iPod Touch camera . . . AND the OWLE provides a wide angle lens (37mm) as well as a macro lens as options . . . I use them together for close-ups and a higher resolution on the pre-5 mpx cameras (iPod Touch 4G and the iPad 2) – saves switching lenses.

I used to be a real Hipstamatic freak, but since I downloaded the 6X6 camera app, I’m using the square format almost exclusively, using PhotoForge 2 and Pixlr-o-matic for FX and image mods . . . Hipstamatic has too many film/lens options . . .

The Hipsta app is O.K. for doing a series of photos . . .
I prefer the “darkroom-like” options of Pixlr and PhotoForge for more controlled “atmospherics” . . .

last day before June . . .

. . . did some exposure adjusting & ramped the contrast a bit on the iPad . . .

20120517-155444.jpg

shot some pics this a.m. using the 6X6 app . . . iPod cam was cradled in the OWLE BUBO . . . w/macro & 37mmwide angle lenses.

the pics have a “Hipstamatic” feel . . . w/o the faux lens flare, etc . . .

20120426-075202.jpg

Also remembered the tripod adapter for the Hipstamatic . . . the faux . . .

20120426-075139.jpg

. . . the plastic Hipstamatic camera mask 4 my iPod Touch . . . thanks for stirring the sediment Mr Mike . . . no . . . I made some changes to the original item . . . masking tape and spray paint . . . it’s not finished . . . yet.

20120426-075150.jpg

I shot some qwikies of the BUBO this a.m. (available light) so I got GRAIN and somewhat out-of-focus . . . the BUBO will fix THAT in the coming days.

20120426-075301.jpg

You gets a macro lens and a wide-angle baby when you buy the OWLE ($179.00) . . . .

20120426-075241.jpg

WTF !! . . . that was then . . . the price on Amazon NOW is $161.00 plus shipping . . .probably get the free shipping thing cos the $$$ is over x amount . . . whatever.

20120426-075223.jpg
. . . they (the lenses) screw together (best way) . . . and you gets a scratchy mic too.

. . . today is the day of reckoning . . . what will be will be . . . etc. so on and so forth . . . I sally forth . . . BUBO in hand Hipstamatic app dialed in . . . que sera sera . . . oh y-e-e-eh . . .

. . . all photos shot with either the iPod Touch 4G or iPad 2 . . .

Blog-o-matic

. . . been off the blogmobile for a few days, working on the Curtis/Forbes photo exhibit . . . painting gallery walls and such . . . working on a personal video using the 8mm video app on the iPod Touch.
Saw a piece about a 30 minute movie made by a Korean film producer shot with the iPhone . . . Park Chan-Wook

“Award-winning director, Park Chan-Wook shot a a 30-minute film used two iPhones to shoot ‘Night Fishing’.”

“THE GIST
A South Korean director has shot a major film using two iPhones.
The picture resolution is the same as conventional movies, but took just 80 people, $133,000 and 10 days to create.
The iPhone movie will be the first ever of its kind to be shown in cinemas.”

And I found the camera housing shown in the photo . . . the OWLE Bubo . . .

The housing includes a tripod mount, a wide-angle lens and hand grips for steadier handheld shots.

HOLEE CRAP!! TECH-NOL-O-GEE!!
