Lumi app

Great little app from the inkodye people . . .

Some things you should know before you jump into the water . . . First you’ll be working with a SQUARE format, so if you import an image from yer camera roll, make sure you allow for Lumi’s square format. The Lumi cam shoots in a square format.

Number two: the app will crash . . . if yer image has too much data it will overload the app and it will crash . . . remember, this ain’t no super computer at Lawrence Livermore, so . . .

The inkjet process for generating a negative is a bit too . . . too “process-y” for me, so I would opt for spending $7 and get an 12″ X 12″ film neg from the Lumi people.

If you want posterized images or halftone dots . . . u-u-uh . . . well . . .

This is a nice app for beginners in alternative photo processing – if you’ve never messed with color separated imagery or been in a REAL darkroom this is your ticket to freedom and fame in the social media fast lane . . .

Here’s some pics:

Took the iPad mini out for a test drive this afternoon . . . used the daylight viewfinder . . . I’m going to test the Photojojo accessory lenses later.

Have a look . . .

Did a bit of cosmetic touch-up with PhotoForge 2 . . .

Tomatoes . . .

Messing with pics . . . shot in my “garden” with the trusty iPod Touch 5G and the Photojojo wide angle/close-up combo lens. Passed the image through a few “darkroom” apps – Doublexpro, C4LA (lineart), PhotoForge 2 and Pixlr-o-matic.

GO ARGENTINA !!

tinker Paint . . . an app

just got this app today . . . berry nice !!

The app is free, but you can upgrade to allow for use of your photos and graphic stuff for backgrounds other than those provided . . . if you opt for just the free version you can still do a lot of preliminary sketching and such to export to other apps . . . go to the App Store and check it out . . . download it . . . it’s free . . . you’ll love it.

Here’s what I came up with using an image from my photo library . . . first the original image . . .

20140123-215639.jpg

next came the new tinker Paint app . . . some neon, text, spray paint and smudge . . .

20140123-215655.jpg

Overlayed the original pic and the tinker Paint image using the Double Exposure app . . . hence the dark bands on the top and bottom margins where the image borders didn’t quite match.

20140123-215706.jpg

Dumped the Double Exposure image into PhotoForge 2 . . .

20140123-215715.jpg

And finally . . . more PhotoForge and Diptic to increase image resolution.

p.s. the JOT stylus works just fine with the app . . . if your finger isn’t sharp enuff . . .

day of the hump (part 2) . . .

Here are some pics taken with the iPod Touch 5G cam . . . PuddingCam app using the Panorama setting and noir film.

Location: Manzanar National Historic Site, Block 34 Mess Hall garden . . . “san-shi-en” . . . just translates as 34 garden . . . san-shi (34) en (garden) . . . as with the photos posted earlier on the hump, I did a bit of exposure adjustment with PhotoForge 2, that’s all.

All but six or seven rocks used in this garden are “meta-volcanic” . . . gathered from the Inyo Mountain Range east of Manzanar . . . those not from the Inyo range are granitic and probably came from the boulder field west of Manzanar.

day of the hump . . .

went out to MNHS . . . MANZ . . . to check out the damage caused by the recent flood . . . not as bad as I expected.

While there I decided to test the PuddingCam app . . . up to this point in time I hadn’t been using the app very much . . . but as I’ve been finding out over the passed few days there are a lot of “film” and camera options . . . I had updated the app without checking the changes.

Here are some images from the Mess Hall (45mm/f3.2) building using the PuddingCam app with the noir “film”, and the Snap and Panorama (37mm/f16.9) camera settings . . . The Panorama cam setting gives a great depth of field . . . you can actually see a lot of definition from 3-4 feet to infinity.

20130828-191026.jpg

I did a bit of cropping and exposure adjustment with PhotoForge 2, that’s it.

Before I head out for the jury duty selection thing (stoopid), here’s a visit to the shelves of my app combini . . . ‘Obscura, Halftone, Pixlr-o-matic, PhotoForge 2, Doublexposure Pro, and Haiku HD, not necessarily in that order.

p.s. Pixlr-o-matic and Pixl Express +, are brought to you by Autodesk, the AutoCad people . . .

PlaboC . . .

I know . . . the title makes no sense . . . it isn’t a misspelling of placebo, and that’s all that matters . . . it’s high context . . .

Re: the ToonCamera app

Pat . . . thought you might like to see an example of my ToonCamera work . . . so here it is.

First some persimmons shot with the iPod Touch 4G . . .

Next, the result of dipping the original into the ToonCamera app . . .

20130617-141737.jpg

Here’s the Doublexpro app mash-up . . . layering the original image with the ToonCamera pic.

20130617-144639.jpg

Finally, here’s the finished image after cropping the black areas generated by Doublexpro, and adjusting contrast/brightness with PhotoForge 2.

20130617-144242.jpg

Th-th-th-that’s all folks . . .

a rose is arose isaroseisa rose . . .

Bought this new app Photo Artista Haiku (Haiku HD) ($2.99) and mixed a photo using it and Pixlr Express +, Pixlr-o-matic +, and Doublexpro . . . it took longer to install the new app than to mix the image for the final result. I used PhotoForge 2 to crop the margins, and to adjust contrast and saturation.

The Haiku HD app is by the people who brought us the Pop Dot Comics app.

First pic is the original, and the last is the final mix down . . .

20130606-182951.jpg

20130606-182701.jpg

The following 2 images are the result of combining the original image with the Haiku HD render . . . the dark margins top and bottom are the result of combining two images in the Doublexpro app . . .

Then I threw the final image into the Pop Dot Comics cooker . . .

The hummingbird moths (White-lined Sphinx MothHyles lineata) have returned to greet the lilacs . . . this little bugger was resting on the door frame next to the doorknob . . . had to be careful opening and closing the door.

20130404-110316.jpg

I had planned to use the iPod Touch 5G but changed my mind and shot with the Nikon Coolpix using the 12mp mode . . . looking for the detail . . . I can always dump the images into one of the darkroom apps if I feel the need for some excitement . . . I did mess with the brightness and contrast (PhotoForge 2) . . .

Update

I shot a few more pics of the moths this afternoon (Coolpix) . . . cropped, adjusted contrast & brightness then increased saturation cos the birds were shot against the sky . . .

20130404-215218.jpg

This last shot is my fav . . .
