been reading Twinka’s book What Doncha Know about Henry Miller and there was an advert for Puerto Rico on the TV . . . which brought mind a story my oldest daughter told me about a person on one of the social media sites she frequents: seems there was this person who spelled Puerto Rico “Port-o-Rico” . . . ah yes . . . and now Puerto Rico has become Port-o-Rico in our conversations . . . reminiscent of Port of Subs . . . a sandwich shop in Reno NV.
O.K. here’s one for you gourmet types . . . P.F. Chang’s or Panda Express ???
I went to P.F. Chang’s in Beachwood O-HI-O . . . about ten years ago . . . and, I went to Panda Express 2-day . . . in Palmdale CA.
Palmdale is where the B-1 bomber was built and tested, as was one of the space shuttles.
There’s also one of many P.F. Chang’s in Reno NV next to . . . you guessed it . . . Panda Express!
What does it mean??
I don’t have a clue . . . except I see the Panda in Reno cranking out more food AND customers than P.F. Chang’s . . . AND, you don’t have to tip some waiter or wait at the bar for a seat to become available . . . you get yer grinds in a matter of minutes (hot!!) and the Shanghai Angus Beef is BETTER than a Kobe beef burger @ 1/10th the price !!!
Yeh . . . I’ve had Kobe beef, and if it’s not cooked RIGHT, it’s no better than crockpot chuck steak !!! Gluten-free ?? . . . who cares !!!
Like I posted before, “I DON’T WAIT IN LINES . . . ” not even to take a leak !!!
The ONLY thing I would like fixed is the steamed rice . . . could be a bit more “sticky” . . . too much like “fly lice” . . . you saw “Rush Hour” non?
I like to slurp my noodles, put my elbows on the table, and eat with people who like good food . . . if I want to be seen, I stand in front of a full-length mirror . . .
. . . so today I wore my new cargo pants (made in China), shiny, poisonous green as the skin of a king cobra . . .
p.s. the soul of P.F. Chang’s is to be found in their frozen entrees . . . sweet forgettable sawdust . . . probably made of the green algae that seems to be trying to take over the east coast of China . . .

I’ve always been a fast and dirty guy when it came to film processing and other things photographic, BUT, when I got all the apps for my new iTouch, its like all the girls I lusted after as an 11 year old poonster, appeared . . . naked and otherwise. . . . so I’ve been carrying my new appendage around, snapping pics, snapshots if you will, in true street fashion . . . like Catrier-Bresson, Brassai, or Gary Winogrand, to name a few . . . uh, where was I . . . oh yeh, my new camera . . . some of the apps let me shoot using the default camera and then produces a modified image, like a “cross-processed” pic like some footage from “Man on Fire” (one of my favorite movies) for example, OR it will give me a faux Polaroid . . . YEE HAW!!
Today I was in Reno NV and “discovered” a new wall . . . on Virginia Street . . . I think the wall is somehow related to the tattoo shop two doors south . . .

But what I was excited about was the highway guard rail on Highway 395, at the Mono Lake scenic overlook near Conway Summit . . . the guard rail is like the famouso Newspaper Rock where pioneers and mountain men scratched their names, dates, and other things commemorating passing this particular rock somewhere on the Great Plains while “going west” . . . yeh, the internet is sort of like a virtual “Newspaper Rock” in cyberspace. The guard rail is approximately 30 meters in length.
I’m always amazed by the number and variety of stickers that are out in the world . . .

What I like best about the iTouch and the apps that I have is . . . I can “process” my images in the car, or wherever AND whenever I have time . . . and I can edit the “cameraroll” with a flick of the finger . . . s-o-o-o . . . now I don’t have to wait until I get back to the “studio” or “shop” like with the big Canon . . . oh yeh, I can post or tweet from Starbucks whilst sipping a mucho grande cappuccino . . . wet, of course . . .

. . . alright cowboys, I got my new iPod Touch (4th Generation) and it is mother fucking AWESOME!!
It looks like the old G4 has gone to wherever 10 year old apples go . . .
O.K. here’s something to think about: I read reviews about the apple USB AC adapter it sounded a bit sketch-y for the $$, well, as it turned out, I got tired of waiting to be served at the apple store in Reno NV, and drove to Carson City, which is about thirty minutes south of Reno . . . went to the BestBuy store on the hill, and was in-n-out in about 15 minutes . . . came out with the 32GB iPod Touch, AND a Griffin adapter combo package . . . had a car adapter, AC adapter AND this hard-ass USB connector (3.5 feet long). all for 39 USD! . . . and the car adapter will accommodate 2 USB cables!!
The camera is XLNT and the video . . . can’t wait to sneak some black ops footage . . . added PhotoShop Exoress, ShakeIt (fake-y Polaroid app), Twittalator Pro, and Private Pics (a PIN secured photo storage app) . . . oh yeh, and I bought Layers, a drawing app. Private Pics lets you store photos from the camera roll OR you can use the on-board camera and shoot directly into a folder in the app.
I haven’t had time to just mess with all the apps or the cameras (still and video) but, HOLY CRAP Buck Rogers, this IS the 25th Century . . . I’m living in Shatner’s Star Trek . . . and I know this isn’t any pizza induced dream. BEAM ME UP . . . !!!!
You can buy a new Macbook Air, or you can buy an iPod Touch AND an iPad for about the same $$ . . . it’s like, do you want to go to P.F. Chang’s for lunch, or Panda Express (where the food is HOT and full of flavor), do you want to wait for a seat (P.F. Chang), and then wait for your food, which is yuppie-puppie BLAND and costs $$$$$$ ? I opted for the Panda and GOOD food (my tricked-out iPod Touch) . . . total cost . . . less than 380 USD, tax included.
. . . Ha, ha . . . figured out how to access the iPod camera roll . . .

Shot some photos of my meibutsu from a shop in Reno, Nevada – happens to be near where my daughter holes-up during the school year; got a great Greek sandwich shop and the Reno eNVy store in a place nearby called “The Market Place”. It’s located west of Virginia Street and half a block north of First Street; got a wine tasting place and some other shops worth a look if you’re in the area and haven’t spent all your money in the casinos. >OO<

Drove to Reno, NV to pick-up my daughter (semester break). Located just north of the junction of Hwy 95 and the cut-off to Hwy 6 are the concrete remnants of some sort of structure; the surfaces of walls, large blocks and the interior of a rectangular column have been spray painted or “tagged”. I have seen the site several times, but have not taken the time to stop and document this outdoor “exhibition”. Today (12/11/09) I stopped and recorded some footage (approximately 10 minutes) with my Flip Mino HD. Here are some stills clipped from the video.
